Why do gems need first class faceting?
These beautiful gemstones were created by Mother Nature millions of of years ago. They have been sitting underground waiting to be stumbled upon by hard working miners slaving away in our Australian outback heat. These gems deserve to receive a cut that will show them off in all their glory!
I have taken the time to develop angles to maximise the brilliance for a range of cuts that I use. I make sure to give each gem the time it needed to achieve the symmetry and polish that is needed to really make the gem sing! After all, these gems will be around long after I am gone.
We specialise in cutting our beautiful Australian sapphires!
One of my main goals is to showcase the beauty of our sapphires to the world. For a long time they have been held in low regard and it is time for that to change. With the right cut and angles they truly are a magnificent gem.
Pharaoh’s Eye Sapphire
A fine example of a 2ct+ rare Australian Pharaoh’s eye parti sapphire which is created by having a yellow crystal core surrounded by blue crystal. When cut in a round brilliant a yellow pupil and a teal iris becomes evident hence the ‘eye’. This type of parti sapphire is quite rare to come across and make for stunning gems when cut well!
Australian Parti Sapphires
Australian Blue Sapphire
Australia produces some very fine untreated blues such as this 2ct+ from Scrub Lead in Central Queensland. It is true that Australian blue sapphires tend towards richer blue gems however there are also sky blues and tealy blues that are just exquisite. Not to mention the incredible Royal blues of the New England area of NSW and medicine bottle blues of the Lava Plains.
